The Trinidad & Tobago Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) has joined with Heineken® Trinidad & Tobago to host Promotional Events for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, which is currently in progress in Japan.
President of the TTRFU, Mr. Colin Peters, said that it was indeed a tremendous opportunity for the National Governing Body (NGB) for the sport of rugby in Trinidad & Tobago, to partner with an international brand such as Heineken®.
He continued, indicating that these promotional events are opportunities to reach, not only the local rugby fraternity, but also a spectatorship outside of the fraternity who have been skeptical as to the safety of the sport.
Heineken’s Brand Manager, Ms. Keisha Maharaj, noted that the Company has enjoyed a long and rich heritage with rugby for over twenty (20) years as a worldwide partner of Rugby World Cup, title partner of Heineken® Champions Cup and a partner of a number of World Rugby Sevens Tournaments.
Heineken’s partnership with Rugby World Cup has spanned South Africa 1995, Australia 2003, New Zealand 2011, England 2015 and will continue through Japan 2019.
Hosted once every four (4) years, Rugby World Cup is rugby’s centre piece event and the pinnacle of the sport for players and fans alike. Held over the course of seven weeks, it is the third largest sports event in the world, after the Summer Olympic Games and FIFA World Cup.
Mr. Peters would like to encourage the country to take a look at these rugby matches and is guaranteeing a different view of the sport.
