The Trinidad & Tobago Rugby Football Union (TTRFU) is praising the fans who turned out on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Anthony’s College Grounds for the victory against Bermuda. Bermuda, always a tough opponent, showed their usual grit in the match. The TTRFU President, Colin Peters, stated that he thought the deciding factor was the tremendous home crowd support at the game.
The National Team responded to the crowd and held off a very determined and more experienced Bermuda Team. It is what we have been asking for from our National Teams over the years. Going forward, we believe that this team will bring glory to Rugby in Trinidad & Tobago and will assist in the development plan to make rugby a truly National Sport in Trinidad & Tobago.
Trinidad & Tobago will host USA South in a Rugby Americas North (RAN) 15s fixture on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at St. Mary’s College Ground, Serpentine Road, St. Clair. This game was originally scheduled for Miami, Florida, United States of America, however USA Rugby South conceded home advantage to travel to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, in recognition of the financial constraints being experienced by the TTRFU.
We thank USA South for their consideration and the National Team will continue to train hard on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:00 p.m. at the President’s Ground in St. Ann’s, as well as on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m., to ensure that this gracious home advantage counts.
