The Trinidad & Tobago Rugby Football Union’s (TTRFU) Sevens Series comes to a conclusion this weekend, December 7 & 8, 2019, with the Trinidad & Tobago International Rugby 7s Tournament, hosted by The Harvard Club Rugby Section, at St. Mary’s Ground, Serpentine Road, St. Clair. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on both days (fixtures attached).
At the conclusion of the tournament, the Sevens Series Champions in all categories (Senior Men & Women, Under 18 Men & Women and Under 16 Male) will be named. TTRFU’s President, Colin Peters, stated that this tournament will see the official end of the 2019 Rugby Season.
Other events scheduled to take place on the rugby calendar are The Harvard Club Rugby Section Old vs Young Competition on December 21, 2019, and the Trinidad Enthusiasts Santa Claus Run on December 22, 2019.
He continued that it was pleasing to see that all fixtures for the season were completed smoothly and wish to commend the Fixtures Committee, headed by local rugby legend, Anthony Loregnard, and his team, who did tremendous work on the fixtures. Mr. Peters would also like to thank the Trinidad & Tobago Rugby Referees Society (TTRRS), headed by Anthony Pontiflette, and his team for all their hard work during the season.
Commendations are also to go out to the Clubs and Players for a season where indiscipline was at a minimum, which reflects the culture of the sport of rugby.
The TTRFU continues in its vein of development, in conjunction with Rugby Americas North (RAN), the regional development body, by hosting several training sessions for Referees and Coaches in mid January 2020.
